There are 2 types of Solar Panels
Heating solar panels consists of tubes which are connected to sheets of metal. The metal sheets collect the heat from the Sun and warm the water that passes through the tube. The installation of these heating solar panels is done on the roof top. They are usually built using Aluminum or Copper metals to receive and transmit heat.
Solar Panels or Solar Power Panels are the heart of the Solar Power. They are made up of the basic unit call a photovoltaic cell. The photovoltaic cell (Solar Cells) are grouped and interconnected in an assembly to form the solar panels. These are also called as PV Solar Panels or PV Panels. The groupings of these cells are often referred as photovoltaic array are covered by metal conductor at the bottom and glass covering on the top. This complete assembly is called the Solar Panel or Photovoltaic Panel.
A South facing roof ensures that the solar panels get the highest exposure to the sun. However, solar panels can be fitted to a south-east or south-west facing roof provided there is only a minimal of shading. Make sure there are no shades that fall on the solar panel either from the building nearby or from a tree.
Usually a planning permission is not necessary in London. However, if you live in a conservation area you will probably require planning permission - so contact your local authority. If you live in a listed building you will not be allowed to attach solar panels to it.
