Felt Roofing

Built up felt is the most common and established method of weather proofing flat roofs in the UK. When properly installed, this type of roofing can provide a long term waterproofing solution. TCK only uses High Performance felt which can last up to 30 years.

The two best techniques are hot pour bitumen and torch on felt.

Hot pour bitumen technique:

Bitumen is heated to 220+240°C and poured between each layer of felt. When cooled it provided a total bond between the layers. The surface is capped off with limestone chippings to give long lasting protection.

Torch on technique:

Torch on uses specially designed felts that are heated with a gas torch. This technique can be used for all types of flat roofing. Felt can be directly bonded to timber decks or can be used to re-cover older roofs. The top mineral layer of felt is available in a variety of colours.
